Straw’s Berries: Feel Better!

Heyo! Try this on for size. So much of life can be likened to martial arts. Just as important as aiming your strike and connecting, is returning to a neutral ready position. Thinking, acting, doing is the same; if you linger in an overextended position, you leave yourself open and expose your weaknesses. This can be done intentionally or unintentionally.

Straw’s Berries: Self-Diagnostic

Oh hey, pretty crucial list of cognitive distortions that we are all party to at one time or another. See if you can spot your own. I recommend spending some time with this list so that you can identify the distortions without having to check your work.

15 Common Cognitive Distortions

Plat back,

Why should you be limited to one medium?

Graphic designers have honed the art of combining photography, drawing, and digital manipulation. These artists break the norm creating images that can bend your perception of reality.

Straw’s berries: Motion in the Ocean

Once I heard about a video of a guy who started a fire with his chi, but when he found out the footage had been shown publicly, he withdrew from society, never to be heard from again, ashamed as he was at revealing his abilities. No story is the same between tellings.

Straw’s berries: A boon

Every once in a while, you encounter an internet video that brings with it no expectations, no semblance of purpose to be divined from the outset, no clear cultural context, nor even any substantive indication whether it’s fake or not. There’s nothing to do but watch, mouth agape, and enjoy.

Pot, you are Racist to Kettle.

Rage on.

Plat on the mic with some rage-tastic news.

I throw my hands up to the festy gods for they have granted us with EDC NYC. What was born in the city of angels now comes to the nitty gritty city of New York. I dare you to resist; this vid’s seriously savage.

Straw’s berries: The new and the edited.

So, after effects. Adobe. Mastery of simple things = professional appearances, apparently. Your apprehension of quality is presented to you by Coke. Voila:

The Young and The Talented.

Plat here,

With the rise of the interwbez came a revolution in creativity. Anyone anywhere can produce and publish their work for the world to see.  Independent artists have a free venue to display their work. This is changing the game in film making.

Jesse Burrell is making serious moves. After submitting this to a Biscuit video contest, they quickly scooped him up for other projects. Check out more of his stuff with NoCoastTV

While on the topic of up and coming filmmakers, I can’t help but give a shout out to my boy Gabe Harden. I am in love with everything about this short edit starring Sophie Reppert, shot by Mathea Millman and edited by Gabe. Feel free to CHECK OUT MORE.

Ba-Ba-Beauties.

Plat here,

As a blonde, I cannot help but appreciate the others around me. It’s time to celebrate our platinum and strawberry friends. Here are some hotties with dangerously swanky hair color for the books. ImageImageImage

K-Swag

Miss Plat here, back on my bloggin’ grind.

For the past two weeks, I have been lucky enough to twist my perspective an enjoy a new culture. So far, Korea has shown me the mindmending power of a soju (rice wine) hangover,  the benefits of never having to leave a bar to smoke dirt cheap cigarettes, and most importantly the necessity of kimchee at every meal.

But these are mere accessories in the juicey culture I have dunked my head in.

B-BOYz

Damn, these boys can dance. I had the opportunity to attend R16, an urban art festival and break dancing competition. From the moment I sat in my overly comfortable concert seat, these jacked b-boys had my full attention and my heart. Crews from Khazistan, France, Taiwan, Russia, Japan, China, USA, and Korea came out to share the love and respect of b-boying and the hiphop culture around it. Thanks Vimeo for da vid!

ARTz

The perfect comlpiment to the yummy dancer boys was the side dish of delicious graffiti murals. Street artists from around Seoul gathered to spray their love of art over the hiphop influenced scene. Check out local Seoul artist Xeva’s fresh style in his work “Canvas”.

JAMz

The cherry on top of my exciting day and evening was the surprise performance from the Korean hiphop star Drunken Tiger. I did not expect much from the less than sober feline but he yet again showed me a taste of K-Swag. Take a lil’ listen for yourself.

Thanks YouTube. You always come through for us blondies.
